PS .......... please keep all replies very elementary as I have no experience with this adventure thus far ......... but everybody has to start from the beginning .... right ?

hello Joe,

in order to do in-circuit-programming from SF100, the SPI bus has to be in HZ state when SF100 apply SPI signals to the SPI bus. that means the chipset has to be able to toleratnt SPI signals from external programmer.

you will need to check with Asus for that. i remember they do have SF100 pin compatible header on their motherboard and use MOSFET to isolate the SF100 SPI signals from the chipset.

if the above method does not work out, you could also try our backup boot flash method to recover the on board BIOS. that is to use SF100 to program bios into a chip in the backup boot flash module and then connect the module to the on board spi flash through BBF testclip. this will allow your motherboard to boot from the module instead of the on board SPI flash. After your motherboard is booted, you can disconnect the module and then use flash utility flash back to the on board SPI flash.

feel free to contact us if there is more question or presnetation material is also available under backup boot flash kit on dediprog website.

I need a device that will program the Intel DX58SO motherboard.

I can't find anything that specifically tells me what model of programmer I require or what accessories I require but I do know the following to be true, there is no SPI header on the motherboard, what it does say on the motherboard is "XU3LB SPI Socket" which I have been unable to find anything on.

All I want is a way to program a new custom BIOS on this motherboard.
